Youth

Reading with Rover (year-round)

Ideal for emerging and reluctant readers, sign up for an appointment with MacKenzie (aka Rover) to have your child read his or her favorite book to one of the most attentive listeners around.

Miss June’s Kids (year-round)

Miss June hosts monthly reading and craft programs for preschool through fifth-grade students. Independent readers may be dropped off at the library. Parents are encouraged to stay with young children or those who require assistance. See the library calendar for details.

Summer Reading Program (June)

Every summer, the Ouray Library offers a free four-week summer reading program for rising first- through fifth-grade students. Independent readers may be dropped off at the library. Lunch at the Library – Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (June, July, and August)

This library program helps keep kids fed, healthy, and engaged throughout the summer. The library will hand out a free sack lunch to anyone under the age of 18. Youth are invited to stay for a story or to take lunch to go!

 


Tweens & Teens

After-School Programs

Join the library’s Tweens & Teens After-School Program to participate in book club, writing workshops, and more. Check the library calendar for book selections and other details.

Summer Reading Program (June)

Every summer, the Ouray Library welcomes rising sixth- through twelfth-grade students to serve as helpers for the four-week summer reading program. See the library calendar for dates and times. Students may register in person at the library.

Girls in STEM

Young women in fifth to eighth grade are encouraged to explore the world of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) at a free monthly program designed to seek parity in the field of science.

Teen Zone
